Curriculum & Enrichment
Our curriculum is ambitious and highly effective. It aims to help pupils develop socially, emotionally and academically. Pupils study a broad range of subjects, and the curriculum is complemented by an enriching extra-curricular programme, including daily after-school clubs.
At SAIL Academy and as part of our curriculum offer, we are proud to offer an enhanced enrichment programme for all our pupils.
A wide range of mandatory enrichment activities are timetabled daily after curriculum time to ensure that all pupils have equal access to enrichment and are able to experience a wide range of enriched creative, practical, musical and sports-based activities (for example, arts & crafts, gardening, scooters, coding, board games, cooking, music and languages). We provide pupils with additional enrichment opportunities on a regular basis including swimming, school trips, visitors and workshops.
We also work especially with Wiltshire Outside Learning Team (WOLT). Here, pupils experience learning outside the classroom (LOTC), and take part in outdoor adventures and activities that challenge, develop confidence and different skills and are fun. Our pupils engage and enjoy participating in a wide range of exciting adventures and activities ranging from bushcraft, canoeing, fishing, forest school, high ropes, mobile climbing walls, orienteering, paddle boarding and zipwires.
As well as enjoying outdoor adventures and activities, pupils can work towards informal qualifications such as the WOLT Passport, and older pupils can work towards more formal qualifications such as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) and take part in expeditions.
